What to Bring? Steps
to Help You Submit Your Return
-
When you file your
income tax return through us, we request that you follow these
steps listed below. The steps promote organization of your tax
information and paperwork so that you can easily complete our specialized
forms. Whether you are a veteran tax filer or this is your first
time filing a tax return, our experience has helped us create an efficient
process which enables our staff to process your tax return promptly and
accurately.
- 1. Make a Copy of
your Social Security Card / ITIN*
-
- In order to
electronically file your return, the IRS requires that
your name is written on the return exactly the
same as it is spelt on your SSN card or ITIN. In
order to prevent confusion or conflict, we demand that
all tax filers submit a clear and legible
copy of their SSN card or ITIN. This also applies
to spouse and dependents claimed on your income tax
return.
-
- If needed, H1 Tax
Services Corp. will gladly make a copy of your SSN
Card(s) or ITIN('s) at our office.
- *If we have
processed your return last year, this does not apply to
you.
2. Don't Forget Your
Checkbook
If you wish to use the
Direct Deposit tax refund option, you must
provide us the Routing and Account numbers of your bank
account. These numbers can be found on the bottom
of each check you write. Direct Deposit is a free
IRS service which deposits your refund directly into
your bank account within 10 - 14 days of approval*.
Most tax filers prefer to have their refund directly
deposited into their bank account rather than receive a
check in the mail.
*All tax returns
processed at H1 Tax Services Corp. are filed
electronically, which guarantees payment 10-14 days
after approval.
- 3. Organize Your
Paperwork
-
- Typically by February,
you will have received all the necessary paperwork to
file a tax return. We are dedicated
to getting you the maximum refund you deserve, but we
are not responsible for items you fail to submit.
The most common documents
people receive from their employers, banks and
other institutions are:
-
|
W2-Form |
Statement from your employer which
recognizes you as an employee and summarizes
your wages, taxes withheld and other
information. |
|
1099-Int |
Statement from banks and payers of interest
which summarizes your interest income for
the past year. |
|
1099-Div |
Statement from brokerage which summarizes
your dividend income from stock ownership
for the past year. |
|
1099-Misc |
Statement from your employer which
recognizes you as a contracted worker and
summarizes your wages for the past year. |
|
Mortgage Statement |
Statements from your bank or lender which
summarize loans held by property owners,
such as homeowners. If you are a
homeowner in 2006, please fill out a
Homeowner's Form. |
|
Closing Statement |
If you have purchased or refinanced your
house in 2006, please submit your Closing
Statement with the rest of your tax
paperwork. |
|
Stock Transaction |
Statement from your brokerage or issuer
which summarizes the ownership, buying and
selling of stocks for the year. If you
bought or sold stocks in 2006, please fill
out a
Stock
Form. |
|
1098-T |
Statement from your college or university
which summarizes tuition paid in the past
year.
If you
received a 1098-T, please fill out a
Education Credit Form. |
- 4. Clip & Group
Things Together
-
- As you receive your
statements in the mail, we suggest that you
do not leave your tax documents unopened, or in a pile
next to your computer. Rather, we recommend that
you open up your envelopes and discard them. You
only need the documents inside! Clip your W2-Forms
together, organize your 1099-Int statements and so on.
Include all stock transactions completed in the past
year as well. Store all statements and documents
in a secure place as you collect them, so that you won't
lose them. Once you have received and collected all your tax
paperwork, you are now ready for the fifth and final
step of our process.
- 5.
Fill Out Our Forms
-
- We have created
specialized forms that enable our trained staff to
process your tax return accurately and promptly.
The earlier steps of our process emphasize organization
so that you can easily complete our simple, to-the-point
forms. These easy-to-follow forms will not take
longer than 5 minutes each to complete. We also
included a helped Check List for you, to help you
organize your paperwork.
-
- You may need to
complete more than 1 form. After you completed all
necessary forms, you can submit your return. For complete
information about our forms and which ones you should
fill out, please refer to our
Forms Section. Once you have completed
all necessary forms, you are then ready to submit your
tax return.
- We Appreciate
Your Cooperation!
